There’s no telling when Shazam will be back in the movie theaters, but we do know that Djimon Hounsou and Helen Mirren will reprise their roles as the wizard and the Princess Glinda, respectively. Plus, we’ve learned that a spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam will be coming out in the near future.
Djimon Hounsou will return as Shazam
Shazam: Fury of the Gods is an upcoming DC Comics film that will be released in 2023. It will star Zachary Levi as the titular character and feature a younger version of Billy Batson.
The movie will follow the main characters as they struggle with identity crisis as they try to maintain their family. They will also encounter new characters.
In the first film, Billy was granted powers by an ancient wizard. This gave him the ability to become an adult superhero. However, he is not sure if he fits in with the other heroes. He tries to hold the Shazam family together.
The Wizard will return in the sequel. He is the last member of the Council of Wizards. During the first movie, he bestowed the powers on Billy Batson. Afterwards, he disappeared.
In the next installment, the Wizard will need to find a new champion to fight the evil Black Adam. However, he may not be able to do this.
According to a recent set photo, Djimon Hounsou will be returning as the Wizard. His hairstyle may indicate a flashback scene.
Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Faithe Herman will also reprise their roles. Cooper Andrews and Jovan Arman will also be back. Also, the Super Hero Freddy Freeman and Super Hero Eugene Choi will also be returning.
In addition, he will also be joined by Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren. These actresses will play the daughters of Atlas.
Another potential returning cast member is Mark Strong. Strong played Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. Interestingly, Sivana was teased during the mid-credits of the first film. He allegedly stole the Eye of Sin.
However, Strong has not said whether he will return in the sequel or not. Since Sivana is not a main villain, it is possible he will not appear.
Other returning cast members include Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Meagan Good, and Rachel Zegler. While most of the cast will be returning, some actors will not be re-cast.
The movie has begun filming in Atlanta, Georgia. The release date is scheduled for March 17, 2023.
Helen Mirren will reprise her role as Princess Glinda
If you’re a fan of the DC Comics franchise, then you’ve probably noticed Helen Mirren. The actress has been seen in a number of superhero-themed movies, including multiple Fast and Furious films. She’s also worked on several prestige dramas, such as the Oscar-nominated “The Queen.” So it’s no surprise to hear that she’ll play a role in a DC sequel.
While promoting the release of Shazam!, Helen Mirren commented on her new role in the DCU. She mentioned that she was excited to take on this role, and said it was a lot of fun.
However, she didn’t reveal much about her upcoming role. Hopefully we’ll learn more about it in the weeks to come.
In her newest film, Helen Mirren will be playing a villain in the same universe as her Princess Glinda character from the first movie. That’s right: she’ll be playing Hespera, the daughter of Atlas.
And while this isn’t the first time Helen Mirren has played a villain, it is her first official superhero role. As such, we’re excited to see her in action.
Meanwhile, Helen Mirren’s costume is another major highlight of the sequel. She’s wearing a heavy-duty suit that fits well into the DC universe. It includes a sword.
When asked if she was excited about her role in Shazam!, Helen Mirren said that she was “fun to play.” But, she said that it was a lot of work.
Helen Mirren won four awards for her roles in “The Queen” and “Solos.” She also earned four Primetime Emmy nominations. Her other honors include an Olivier Award for “The Audience.”
One of the most popular comic books of all time is Shazam!, a DC character with the powers of six gods. Among those are the speed of Mercury, the strength of Hercules, and the wisdom of Solomon. Now, we get to learn more about these powers. This is the first step in DC’s rebirth and rebooting the DCU. With a few more weeks to go, we’ll be sure to learn more about the characters and their roles in the DC Universe.
Hespera and Kalypso will be back as villains
Two of the villains in DC Comics’ new Shazam movie are set to return. They are Hespera and Kalypso. It’s possible that this duo will form a formidable trio. However, no one knows how the story will unfold.
The first trailer for the movie was unveiled during the DC Films panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July. The trailer features Zachary Levi as the titular hero. While the rest of the cast appears to be the same as the first film, a few new characters have been added.
Helen Mirren has been announced as the villainous Hespera. She’s a daughter of Atlas, one of the Greek gods. Atlas is also credited with giving Shazam his powers.
Another villain, Kalypso, is played by Lucy Liu. She is the second daughter of the Greek god Atlas, a nymph charged with protecting the island of Ogygia.
This character is said to be powerful, although she doesn’t have the same superhuman powers as her counterparts in DC comics. In addition, she’s been described as wearing armor with a golden color. Perhaps this indicates she’s older.
A third member of the Daughters of Atlas will also make an appearance. Though this isn’t confirmed, there is speculation that she will be the main villain.
As far as the original rogues in the DC Comics universe, no one can say for sure. But with two powerful new baddies on the way, the sequel is set to be bigger and better than the first film.
Besides being a reimagined version of the 1991 DC Comics crossover War of the Gods, the new movie also takes the characters to new mythological realms. One of the most popular legends is that of the Greek gods Atlas and Zeus, who grant their own sons, the superheroes Shazam and Hercules, their powers.
The movie is being directed by David F. Sandberg, who previously helmed the first Shazam movie. It’s scheduled to be released in 2023. Although no release date has been set, fans can expect to see the new superheroes take on an assortment of new villains.
Dwayne Johnson starring spin-off Black Adam
Black Adam is an upcoming superhero film that will feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the lead character. The film is set for a 2022 release and is the 11th film in the DC Extended Universe.
As part of the DC Comics world, Black Adam is an anti-hero who fights against the Justice Society of America. The character first appeared in Shazam! and has been compared to Superman, with powers comparable to that of the Man of Steel.
In addition to his main role, Black Adam will be joined by Noah Centineo as Atom-Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone Hunkel. Pierce Brosnan is also scheduled to appear as Doctor Fate.
The film was originally set to be released in December 2020. After the coronavirus pandemic delayed the film’s production, the movie was moved to an October release date. However, the film did not make a profit at the box office. Some critics have deemed it as a box office bomb.
Despite the negative reviews, the film has an estimated budget of $195-230 million. Moreover, it is being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and Seven Bucks Productions.
It will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the director of Disney’s Jungle Cruise and the remake of the film House of Wax. Collet-Serra is also known for his action movies like Non-Stop and Orphan.
Black Adam is a spin-off of the hit movie Shazam!. It is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Though it is not an official sequel, it is expected to feature a face-off between Shazam and Black Adam.
During San Diego Comic-Con this year, Dwayne Johnson debuted a new trailer for Black Adam. He also teased that the film will feature a possible face-off between the hero and supervillain.
This upcoming superhero film will be produced by Seven Bucks Productions and DC Films. And it will star Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Shahi, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan.
As a result of all these stars, DC is preparing to introduce new heroes to the world. They will also be releasing prequel comic stories, spotlighting members of the Justice Society of America.
